Your message has several points and questions. IMO, you are fortunate to have both GTE and T in your portfolio as they should do well whether there are mergers or not. However, the likelihood is that there will be much more consolidation in this industry and GTE would be a good fit for either British Telecom or AT&T. And there is the remote possibility of a bidding war (like MCI) between the two for GTE -- although I don't believe Armstrong would do that nor do I think that British Telecom would get involved in another one (once burned, etc.). And, BTY might even go after T or they might form some sort of an alliance -- the possibilities are endless. I'd suggest not focusing on the takeover aspects but rather on the fact that the prospects for both companies are positive.

I'd say to sit back, relax and prosper as you watch your T and GTE holdings grow -- one way or another!
