Yes I saw USB 3. I believe it is USB 3, in fact they made a point of saying it was much faster.
It would be dumb to call it "Lightning" if it were not any faster. If you remember seeing 3.0, then that's two of us. And as a pair of ex-hippies, our memories are always reliable.

So I guess it's just that cable that only meets the 2.0 spec.
