Too complex for me.

Which means nobody is getting my money.

No shit. Been in consumer products all my life and the one thing I've learned is complex decisions destroy sales. I remember years ago our marketing department developed a program for an installed product. The part that was in the wall was all the same anyway so they said "we'll sell that separately and then the decorative part that is outside the wall will come in a different package". Cut way back on inventory cost for the retailer, space, it all made so much sense. Developed a really terrific point of sale display.

Then we tested it in 50 Home Depot stores. Total fail. You can't get a consumer to buy two packages for one finished goods product; they just won't do it. They hate it, they think they're getting ripped off, they think they'll make a mistake, or they just get totally confused. Even though they were getting the same product cheaper.

The carriers are lucky they have no real competition. We're stuck with their weirdness.
