Bernanke concerns me more, because he has more power than either Romney or Obama. Bernanke is a Soviet-style Central Economic Planner. He is antithetical to free markets. And free markets are a foundation stone in a vibrant Democracy.
Oh and btw, Romney's statements were distasteful, but what he said is true in a large respect. There are 45% or more of the population who will never vote for him, simply because he's Republican. I myself have talked about the fact that the winner of this election has to convince the Independents like me to vote for them. We are the swing voters. That is what Romney is talking about. Also, it just so happens to be true too that close to 50% of Americans pay no taxes. This group is one the GOP has relentlessly targeted for some kind of tax contribution. So again, his statement is true, although I'm sure distasteful to Dems.
Look, I know the Dems will use this as political hay. It's what everyone does. I ignore this kind of campaign silliness, just as I ignored the media hoopla when Obama said, "You didn't build that, the Government did." It's just silliness. If we were to believe that each of these episodes defined the man, then we'd have to call Romney and Elitist and Obama a Communist. I choose to take a more practical and realistic stance and believe that both men had frustrating lapses in their choice of words. It happens. They both are human, after all. |
