I am interested in learning how one decides which stocks in which to trade. I have heard that some traders make a "book" of stocks which they follow and trade. Is this a preferable way to day trade?

For those who have a "book" of stocks in which they trade, how did you make that book? What exactly do you look for in stocks which you wish to day trade? I would expect fairly healthy volume (over one million?) and volitility (at least 1 point difference between daily high and low?). Any other minimums one should look at?

Can anyone suggest some stocks which one should look at if they are just getting started day trading? I expect one would not want to start off playing fast moving stocks like INTC and CPQ.

I guess another option of creating a "book" of 10 to 15 stock in which to trade is simply to trade stocks in the news. Has anyone had any luck doing this?

Please respond either on the thread or via email at: iwyatt@jvlnet.com

Thanks a lot.

Ian
