the russians were trying to get it together, that's why truman jump the gun. the second bomb was dropped to quickly end the war before the ruskies could get it together.

I'm sure the Russians would have liked a lot more time to consolidate all of Korea and move on Japan. But it would have taken them at least till the following spring to invade Japan. Shit....the US invasion was not to be until Oct at the earliest. There was NO way Russia was going to get into Japan first..
