My home computers are HP, ASUS and Dell. I think that Dell is not very competitive price-wise for home users. IMHO they are targeting businesses more. I was somewhat impressed with Dell warranty when I had it. Support was definitely India-outsourced, but they agreed to change the video card twice without any fight and offered to change motherboard on the second time since they were not sure that the video card was faulty. They even sent a guy to my place to change the motherboard - I actually refused it since I knew it was video card that was bad. All this for free on a warranty that was almost at the end.

In terms of businesses, I know quite a few Dell-only companies. I've also seen one or two IBM-now-Lenovo-only places. Never seen an HP-only company. IMHO Dell has pretty good corporate position and it's harder to push it out from there than from individual users.
