Book discussion: The Great Boom Ahead

Has anyone else read this book recommended by Doug. I've been reading it this week and found the arguments compelling.

I'm having trouble understanding the charts relating the S&P 500 to the birth rate (fig 2-5 on p.34). It llooks to me that the S &P500 is much higher than on this graph, and it appears to me that the author uses S&P500 adjusted for inflation. I do not know where to find an inflation-adjusted chart.

The author states that the S & P 500 follows a trend predicted by the birth rate 46 years prior, with adjustments possible due to short term hisotrical events(wars, oil crisis, investment bubbles). I was intrigued that the 87 crash found support on the line predicted by the birth rate chart. I would like to know where the inflation-adjusted S&P 500 is now in comparison to the author's prediction, with the idea of getting some idea how far we may drop if the current market corrects significantly. Has anyone else looked at this?

BTW, the author certainly pegs the current Japan situation based on his models. Fascinating!
