Duane: I pulled out the 1997 annual report, fiscal year ending March 31, 1997. From this date I figured about six months staffing, putting in equipment, tweaking the operation and getting ready for production. That is why I feel that the next few months could be important for APAT as far as any sales or contract announcements.
From the annual report: "The Company will manufacture and market UV Detectors and some other devices as its own products. Many other devices, however, require system integration, elaborate manufacturing and marketing facilities, or both. APA plans to seek joint licensing and joint partnership agreement with suitable partners to commercialize these devices.
The Company already has a joint development and licensee agreement with AT@T relating to the commercialization of blue-green LED's and laser diodes. The Company would pattern future licensing arrangements on this agreement. APA will provide epitaxial layers and processing, if needed, to help support the production of these devices."
"After developing GaN based ultraviolet (UV) detecotrs over the past several years, APA Optics has selected these detectors as the first of its GaN products to be commercialized. The Company already has sold over 40 research units to various customers for their evaluation."
I look for the Company to market the UV Detectors first. Believe they have a product ready to go, just a gut feeling. Also looking for some sort of announcement regarding personnel in sales. Perhaps the most important component of putting everything together.
The one thing that has really upset me with APA Optics is the total lack of communications with its shareholders. Outside of the quarterly and annual reports, not much is announced. Neither the Company or their PR firm returns E-Mail and they have not updated the Web Page, except for some quarterlies, for the past year.
Have been working on both APAT and their PR Firm about the importance of updates and information. Their trash bin should be full by now.
Take Care,
