I would hope that no one would take offense at this post. But to me it is a matter of extreme importance.

No, I am too old to fight. AND I have no one of age who would be going to fight but since I was born we have been in about five wars. I am sick to death of them and those who have died in them and for what ?

Call your own Congressman if you care to. Just let's prevent another involvement...

Take a minute to tell your member of Congress, Vern Buchanan, to co-sponsor Congresswoman Barbara Lee's bill to avoid an unnecessary and costly war with Iran.

Not another war.

Dear SUBSCRIBER:

The war in Iraq was a catastrophic mistake and a tremendous moral failure. But there is dangerous momentum to begin another war of choice, this time with Iran.

Sadly, President Obama (who is clearly not rushing to start another unnecessary war) is under tremendous pressure by many members of Congress — including many Democrats — to abandon diplomacy and follow a path that would make war inevitable.

That is why we need to support the efforts of Congresswoman and progressive champion Barbara Lee, who has introduced legislation to, in her words, "ensure that all diplomatic avenues are pursued to avoid a war with Iran and to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon."

Tell your member of Congress, Vern Buchanan, to co-sponsor Rep. Lee's bill to avoid an unnecessary and costly war with Iran.

Whether or not you think your representative will co-sponsor the bill, we need you to pick up the phone and make a call.

While the American people are opposed to another war of choice, those pushing for war have been far more vocal and organized than the rest of us.

Our friends on the Hill have told us that congressional offices are hearing from people who want us to go to war, but not from those who would like to see a diplomatic solution.

We cannot allow those howling for war to be met with a deafening silence on our side.

Our allies in Congress need to know their constituents want them to steadfastly champion diplomacy. And we need to put other lawmakers on notice that their constituents reject all attempts to undermine the diplomatic efforts that might keep our nation from the brink of war.

Pick up the phone and make a call to tell Rep. Buchanan to co-sponsor Rep. Lee's bill to avoid an unnecessary and costly war with Iran.

While there are no easy solutions to addressing the challenges we face with Iran, it is imperative that we pursue diplomacy.

We all want to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran, and Rep. Lee's bill provides the right tools to do this.

Make no mistake: if we bomb Iran, it will set the entire Middle East on fire, send oil prices through the roof and our economy off a cliff — something our nation simply cannot afford.

But the current clamor for war entirely ignores this reality.

Please take a minute and speak out in support of diplomacy. If you haven't called your representative, now is the time. And if you have called before, please call again.

Call Rep. Buchanan and ask him to become a co-sponsor of Rep. Lee's bill.
