Hey Sioux, you invited me to rant and rave so here I go.
Probably will not make much sense since I've been drinking and overdosing on my dihydrogen monoxide again! In solid form too! Your post: That's cool, it works well to convince the choir and it's fun for most of us.
However some times some things that the choir enjoys dissuade the outsiders and non believers.
IF the election is going to be tight - actually it doesn't matter, tight or not, every election needs to be won as strongly as possible, otherwise Dewey really wins, sit on your @$$ and laugh and then Bush beats Gore, cry about fairness and the systems that are in place and you sound just like the little kid whose mom wouldn't buy him the icecream and will mom buy him icecream later - not with that behaviour for sure. I really think if the democrats took the high road in that instance we would have suffered with that Texan for 4 years, not 8, and don't get me started on Kerry, who lost to what some people say is the "worst president in history". If Bush was the worst, what does that make Kerry? Oh fair elections yadaydayada how did Obama get elected then? I know his competitor was so bad (how bad was he?) (he couldn't even win a "rigged" election!) You see - that kind of thinking is feel good but not very productive (I'd use the "M" word here but I'm too nice to do so)
Concentrating on gaffs and goofs (both sides have them) will only take you so far. Fun and keeps the choir engaged, but not convincing to the others.
What are the issues that this country faces?
When you have brilliant people who are the cream of the crop worrying about their jobs in the US (think: Pharm industry) not only because of the economy but because you have $#!t heads making decisions in those companies counting beans for the short haul, so some are actually thinking of moving to other countries - that reflects what is going on in other industries as well and does not bode well for the future of our country.
Okay I'm blank now, my synapses have stopped synapping so I gotta go get another drink, and I'm sure at this point Sioux is thinking "shudddup already!" :-) |
