Re: "I meant what to do with the rest of my life." I've been so busy over the past few months that I can hardly imagine what it would be like to be faced with that question. Over the years I've had several different ideas on the matter: 1. Go back to school. I first went to college right out of high school, but then dropped out to form my first career. When I went back to school 12 years later to get a degree, I enjoyed school so much more that I thought I'd like to go back again during retirement. A few years ago, I even took a night class (macroeconomics) and thoroughly enjoyed it. So going back to school is one possibility for me. 2. Start a new career. (It would be my fourth.) I've often said that everyone should go through multiple careers in a lifetime. A change in careers is so invigorating; doing something new is exciting and challenging. I used to think that perhaps a new career as a broker or financial manager would be a possibility, but that was back before internet trading, discount brokers, computerized trading, etc. The brokerage business I thought of as a possible retirement career back then doesn't even exist any more. 3. Volunteering. Houses for Humanity, missions, neighborhood improvement organizations, something like that sounds like it would be fun. 4. Hobbies. Of course I could always get back into some of my old hobbies from years past. When I was much younger, before the corporate tread mill, I used to hunt and fish. Then there was the period when i was a golf addict. Maybe getting back into serious fishing or golf. I'm too busy working now to think about retirement. :) Best wishes, I2
