Humbly report, Norm, "mir" means "peace", right?

I see someone did not dare try your FBN Mir Recipe . . .

That turkey's loss of piece of peace, I guess . . .

While astronauts chow down, NASA debates releasing science satellite

Updated: Nov 27 1997 10:21AM

CAPE CANAVERAL: The Cold War may be over, but that doesn't mean those pesky ex-Soviets are about to adopt American traditions. While his American and Japanese comrades aboard the Space shuttle Columbia chowed down on seasonal fare of off-the-shelf processed turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie Thursday, Ukranian cosmonaut Leonid Kadenyuk opted instead for - blasphemer! - a nice juicy steak. NASA had conveniently stashed an extra processed bird in case Kadenyuk changed his mind.

Over on the Mir, David Wolf appears to have been somewhat more successful at converting his two Russian colleagues - the space station trio had smoked turkey for dinner.

International fowl diplomacy aside, scientists continue to debate whether to have the astronauts re-release the orbital satellite they rescued in Monday's spacewalk. While the shuttle may have more than enough turkey, it may be short on fuel to support the job.
