This statement makes no sense whatsoever. The deal about the Sony HiFi drive is that it delivers better performance and twice the capacity of Zip with its own proprietary disk AND IT IS COMPATIBLE with every 1.44 drive ever made. This makes it useful with every computer made within the last 10 years or so. One can disgard the older 1.44 floppy drive and still not be worried about not being able to share files with other people who don't want Zips.

Zip is compatible with only other Zips-- an installed base of around 2%-3% of newer computers.
