I disagree some on the glass houses. We had to battle for it, yes, but 1920 is not 2012, and not when that's held out, by some, as a reason not to advance themselves. The point is we did battle, and we did advance towards fuller human rights, and continue to do so, yes. I suppose as long as human beings exist, there will always be a battle for it, to attain and then maintain it. We have pedophiles in this country. Every country does, as all have humans there. But we have laws against it and I consider that an advancement. Do we still need to advance in terms of truly taking it seriously? As in we don't just go against it when it's a stranger or step-father, but when it's a man with power, even if that power is seemingly small, such as a Boy Scout Troop leader. We still allow far too much of it to go on. But if a person supports women's rights here, they're not living in a glass house to speak for women's rights in Egypt and to not do so on the grounds of culture is to fall for the same lines used for centuries here in America about not allowing women rights. If no women in Egypt were interested in not being sexually harassed so much, hey, I guess I'd leave it alone, but that's not the case. If no women thought they should have the right to be President there, I'd leave it alone, but that's not the case. If I didn't speak also for those women, then to me I wouldn't really be for the rights of women, only for rights within my own little world.

That's a bit of a ramble, but I'm going between here and varied discussions on twitter about things here there and everywhere on these matters.
