It has taken me 45 years to learn to write even half way decently.

Then you aren't the world's worst writer, even if you where 45 years ago.

But with statements like "All yoiu do in grad school is write papers-lol", you make it seem like it might not be the case 45 years ago (or whenever you went through undergrad and grad school), and if it was then you should recognize that for many paper writing is difficult, sometimes even the most difficult part of college.
