Unfortunately read this from the Wall Street Journal

Samsung also said that an expansion at its Austin, Texas, memory-chip facility, which starts production this month, may be delayed, and the company is planning to sell its audio-equipment business for 150 billion won to Saehan Media, a video and audio tape maker. Some white goods production lines will be moved from Korea to overseas production facilities to cut costs. The new moves follow an announcement made earlier last week that Samsung's investment budget would be 30% lower in 1998 than this year, and that top management's pay would be cut by 10%.

"All investment programs are going to be reviewed," predicted J. Paul Horne, chief international economist at Smith Barney in Paris.

The Korean turmoil has raised questions about Hyundai Group's plans to proceed with a $4 billion semiconductor plant in Scotland. Hyundai says the facility will be ready for production by the end of 1998, and that it will decide when to proceed with a second phase after an examination of market conditions.

Doubts about plans by LG Electronics Co. to build a 1.7 billion ($2.85 billion) semiconductor factory and television plant in Wales were raised after the Korean currency fell some 25% this year against the dollar.
