Steven, everyone has his own opinion on all those questions. You have to weigh the facts yourself. Opinions are plenty here. And everyone (with some exceptions) has an axe to grind. That is what makes it interesting. The ultimate decision is yours.
If you listen to some bears on this forum you would think that the whole technology sector will collapse, people will replace computers with typewriters, unknown companies with billions of dollars in cash but no desire to make a profit will flood the market with DRAM (just to make a loss), that Micron is managed by people behind bars, that nobody wants PCs, that any improvement in PCs and operating systems is not necessary, world is falling apart; that everyone already has all the memory they will ever need.
If that fits your thinking, take your money and run. From your posting it seems that you are somewhat ambivalent. The last thing you want is some unknown person pushing you into a trading strategy that you are not comfortable with.
After you sift thru the idiotic comments about "delayed" reports, and ludicrous claims of manipulative accounting, the core truth is that Micron's revenues are dependent (about 50%) on DRAM prices. This needs to be paid attention to. Check out the publicly available info as well. Many contributors to this forum will frequently post links to other sites. Follow them.
Make sure that you verify the veracity of comments. As an example, comments about "delayed" reports. This can be easily verified. Go to Micron's Index of quarterly report at micron.com Look at what they did last year. When did they announce 1995 ? The date is Sep 21, 1995. So obviously this year is not delayed. The poster then is deliberately lying. You will note that some people deliberately and continuously lie to bolster their opinion. Their so-called "info" is then suspect. You would do well to verify what they say. You will learn to ignore some idiots.
Jerry Denker was/is bearish on Micron. However, his info on DRAM prices has proven to be fairly good over time. |
