mel, I'm coming to the realization that there is an entire cadre of anti-Capitalist, anti-Free Market folks on this thread. It's very disconcerting. They are against the very things that have made this country the most wealthy on earth and that made possible a thriving middle class, before bungling politicians and lobbyists turned the country into a giant unregulated, crony-capitalist, fascist enterprise with a Communist Central Economic Planner as Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
So it is understandable that they are claiming it was Capitalism that is the problem, but really they are watching the Baby cry for mercy and deciding to throw the Baby out the window so they won't hear it cry, instead of looking for the root causes of the sickness that has taken hold of this country and corrupted our Capitalism and Free Markets.
No use arguing, because much of the argument has taken on an ideological bent, instead of a rational discourse. I mean how do you argue with people who claim Socialism and Communism are more viable long term economic model than Capitalism, when history is littered with the failure of those systems and the proof that properly regulated Capitalism is the greatest wealth engine every created?
How do you help people understand that Capitalism is an economic model founded on the principles of individual freedom, where you receive the fruits of your labors, instead of someone else taking them from you to give to others?
This country is going to hell in a hand basket. It's no wonder we've dropped to number 18 behind some Middle Eastern countries in the Economic Freedom rankings. |
