The aggrieved honkies, still smarting over a black president, turned out in force to dismantle the "boys" presidency

Since the voters who had been motivated in the 2008 presidential election had little inspiration in 2010, they stayed home

Many of these folks didn't become enamored of things political in 2008, they simply voted for an inspirational leader, and absent his presence on the ballot in 2010, they simply passed

To downplay the overwhelming influence of race in this election misses the point

A total unfeeling, incompetent, perhaps stupid, ultra wealthy man who has publicly voiced rejection of 47% of the electorate remains within striking distance
