buy a nice boat

Some of the best years of my life were when I lived on my boat over on Catalina Island. The Caribbean would have been even better but all my family is in So Cal. I did get to spend about a year sailing around the Caribbean. Came close to making it permanent, but had to come home caused I missed my family. Plane trips were a hassle.

I don't know anyone who's made the choice of buying a boat and living on it for awhile whether to cruise in the Gulf of California, along the west coast of Mexico and Central American or the Caribbean, or another place they like - like the San Juans up north.

I should qualify that a little. The person who buys the boat and is the captain doesn't regret it. However, there are a lot of partners who aren't too happy about being relegated to the galley and having to do all the work below decks. They have to like the life equally or it doesn't work.
