I am not a lawyer, but on the face of it, the Supreme Court seems to be saying that the police don't have to enforce court orders and in effect can circumvent both the legislature and the judiciary. Wow! That is very disturbing, especially since the law that the police refused to enforce was specifically meant to prevent the kinds of tragedy that happened in the case before the supreme court. nytimes.com
