I don't want a robot cab driving me through midtown Manhattan at rush hour. According to Wikipedia, driverless cars have now logged over 300,000 miles of testing, accident-free, with around a dozen equipped cars on the road at any one time. en.wikipedia.org Their publicity and press releases don't specify how many times the control driver has has to intervene, either with braking or steering corrections, only using the term "occasional human intervention". Personally, I'm curious as the dickens about some of the details, and can hardly wait for them to try your suggested "Manhattan test bed" route <g>.
