Carter is probably the MOST underappreciated President in history.

It was Carter that brought Egypt and Israel together. That alone helped to keep the Middle East together for the last 30 years.

Carter thought it was ridiculous for the Airforce, Army and Navy to ALL have their own airplanes. He thought it would be best to have ONE plane used by all the services and that plane be manufactured by the most competitive bidder.

That made TOO much sense and cut out a lot of the fat paychecks a lot of guys were getting. The military industrial complex couldn't stand for that. Reagan was going to give them carte blanche for $500 screws and $1000 toilet seats.
