A military take over of America is unrealistic, but there have been major power shifts going on here for a long time.

If you mean via ground war, I concur, because Americans are heavily armed and continue to arm themselves.
But, it doesn't have to be a conventional all out ground war.

Two or three EMPs would be enough to break the back of all of our current govt systems in one moment.
One large solar flare could accomplish the same thing.

Continuing our spending binge will do it too.

We have another large internally generated threat that really concerns me.
LIke Napoleon, Hitler, and the Romans, we have a long history of engaging in offensive warfare. In the end they all lost due to unbridled military adventurism.

The other side of the warfare coin is defense. Throughout history, defense has often been the strongest and most effective form of warfare. With the exception of creating a new bureaucracy called Homeland Security (a true govt inspired Rube Goldberg type useless machine) we have not even begun to think that way.

I am convinced that O and his cohorts are working diligently to facilitate our downfall. The FED and healthcare are getting the most press play but are not the only insane parts of our govt..
Hillary and Panetta are absolutely nuts. While our economy continues to crumble, they are diligently expanding our military adventurism to Asia and Southeast Asia. They are spreading our thin, tired, somewhat demoralized, offensive forces even further around the world to engage in new hostilities. They act like we have all the money and men needed to finance continuous warfare.

I question, if the only reason they are already arranging for new bases overseas is to keep our offensive fighting forces deployed outside of CONUS so they will not be available to shore up our homeland defense. The true mission of our military is to protect and defend our Constitution. Do we really need to extend our fighting into Asia, immediately, to do that?

We cannot do everything they think we can do. I predict we will have to shut down our bases in Germany, Italy, Japan, etc. and soon. Those troops will be needed for Panetta's and Hillary's new adventures. I am not opposed to closing those bases. I am opposed to doing it to create assets for new wars elsewhere during this period of extreme financial duress that is already creating a huge burden for all Americans to bear.

Our officials get excited and want to engage in offensive warfare to save a country, when a few dozen or hundred people are murdered elsewhere in the world. Meanwhile, 15,000 Americans are murdered by Americans in America every year, and they never discuss it.
