Rocio Rivera pleaded guilty to voter fraud last year when she admitted to fraudulently submitting absentee ballots in an effort to elect Teresa Ruiz to the state Senate for Essex County in 2007. As part of a plea deal, Rivera agreed to resign from her job as a clerk in the Essex County Sheriff's Office. She never did.

In March, a judge sentenced the 52-year-old Rivera to three years' probation for third-degree absentee ballot fraud. Still, Rivera did not resign from the sheriff's office, where she has worked for 15 years.

Rivera remains in the civil division that processes foreclosures, Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura confirmed Tuesday afternoon. The sheriff said he never received notice from the state ordering Rivera to forfeit her position.

Imagine this, you're the County Sheriff, elected by the voters as the chief law enforcement officer in the county, and you're unable (or unwilling) to police your own employees, because nobody told you to do your job.

That's some mighty fine police work there Lou Armando.

The Democratic Party machine takes care of its own. The circle of fraud surrounding State Senator Teresa Ruiz keeps expanding but accountability remains elusive. Another one of her henchmen was found guilty just last week. Her husband was the ringleader for gosh-sakes, but we're supposed to believe she's squeaky clean, completely unaware of the dirty dealings going on right under her nose.

And why not? The Sheriff's got her back. And Joe D's got his back. What's a little vote fraud among friends? Let's all fly down to Puerto Rico to watch the Super Bowl and pretend we're "campaigning." Rules are for suckers. And vote fraud is a myth anyway.

Yeah, Dems take vote fraud seriously. As in they seriously want it.
