No, you are misrepresenting Ayn Rand. I have studied her extensively. She was a sociopathic kook. Of course is is man's duty to sacrifice himself for the tribe (in the evolutionary sense of cooperation).

Study other simians and you will see that the alpha males will fight a leopard to defend the troop/tribe knowing they will die. What made us strong was our compassion and ability to work together.

Where do you get all this nonsense you post? You need a new source for your information.

<<You're misrepresenting what Ayn Rand said. She has never called compassion "a great evil." Instead, she calls out "altruists" who say it is man's duty to sacrifice himself and his own desires for the so-called "greater good." >>

Compassion and altruism are distinctions without a difference.

<<She supported rational and ethical egoism, and rejected ethical altruism.>.

Yeah, there are other words for ethical egoism and they are all euphemisms for: selfish, greedy, sociopath, uncaring, self centered, egomaniac (she was that) and a cult leader. Did you know that?

<<It's these sort of misrepresentations that give the Randian altruists the tools to convert the masses toward their utopian goals.>>

No, it is the right wings naivete.

<<The ironic thing is that Rand also rails against faith and mysticism, two traits that are often associated with the "religious right." But the left has created its own proxy religion.

It's called environmentalism. It's called secular humanism. It's called socialist collectivism. Put your faith in them, and they'll take care of you. >>

That isn't religion, it is logic and science---as opposd to religion.

<<After all, when you can tell the producers of society that they have too much, that "fair share" means "from those according to their ability, to those according to their need," you are fulfilling exactly what Ayn Rand has called out.>>

You connect nonsense just like Genn Beck. Rand was a right wing nut, fighting communism that everyone had left behind years before.

The serious academic community always knew Rand was nuts. so are are Ron and Rand Paul.
