The simple, obvious truth is that the people who watched the debate thought Romney was more credible than Obama. And not by a little: Gallup's numbers had 72% vs. 20% of those watching believing that Romney won.

That, CJ, is a stomping. And there is a reason for it. Romney was professional, knowledgeable, concise, and loaded for bear. Obama was weak, rambling, and generally ineffectual.

Why? That's the big question. Why did this, the most intelligent man ever to hold the presidency, world-class orator, purveyor of flowery rhetoric, why did he fail?

The reality is that he was, for the first time, in an unprotected environment. No Teleprompter, no media, no deferential treatment due to his office, nothing -- just Romney and Obama. And he got his head handed to him.

It will be nothing short of amazing if Obama can come back at this point. He's a one-termer, because his policy has failed and his campaign has failed to blame everyone and everything including the kitchen sink.

As to the ads, look at the "Big Bird" ad Obama was running today. It is as shallow as any ad in presidential campaign history. These guys have got nothing to run on but Big Bird.
