Our low interest rates are what allows Spain to borrow at 7%. If you had your way and the 10-yr UST was 5% so your money market funds would pay 4.75%, Spain and Greece would collapse. Not that that couldn't still happen. Be thankful or at least appreciate that we are insulated pretty well, and the low rates are what will slowly move underwater mortgages to even. It's the best way out. Did you ever wonder why a U.S. Treasury Secretary would spend time in Europe?
