$249 would probably destroy the Kindle Fire and make a serious dent in Nexus 7 sales, too. $299 or $349 would do almost as well, but putting the iPad mini at $249 would be a very aggressive move, and cause Jeff Bezos and Larry Page to curse Tim Cook's name. But I don't think Apple can meet its margin targets at that price point, so that's not what it will be.

I think iPod Touch prices aren't really germane to the pricing decision Apple will make.
