I read your post and see all kinds of areas that can make the tax code more fair - and bring in lots of money without raising rates.
2 things:

1. You must have been seeing those areas somewhere beside my post, because all I mentioned was the favored treatment of capital gains and their bastard derivative, carried interest.

2. Yes, if you eliminated various deductions and exemptions, you could bring in more money. The Republican party in its present incarnation will not allow that. Everybody's taken the Norquist pledge.
