Paper is destroyed by moderate heat and fire a lot easier than physical gold. Think of Chernobyl...the metals are still there...radiation is way down from were it was... people have been working there... The main immediate destructive force on a wide area surrounding a nuclear bomb explosion is a VERY strong airwave ("wind") that levels some buildings and intensive HEAT. That's when your paper goes! In case one were out of town when the nuke hit, you might get back home (much later) and dig up your PHYSICAL gold from your basement safe among your charred papers. How many investors have brokers in DIFFERENT cities. If your broker goes up in smoke, how are you going to sell your PAPER GOLD that is in your broker account???? I rather sit home with my gold coins and have couple of them with me when I travel!
