In the wild world of capitalism, where might is right, we need to have very strict oversight. Or else we will have people dying from medications that cut corners during manufacturing killing the patients.
Like I said, no one (except maybe a strict libertarian) is arguing against regulation of medication.

Besides, if some drug is killing people, it's not going to sell very well, now is it? Can't grow your market when your customers are dying on you, LOL.

The actual "regulations" that Democrats argue for are not the ones that ensure safety, but instead are the ones that give out more freebies. ObamaCare is a great example. It will do almost nothing to increase the quality or safety of health care, but it will do everything to try and expand health coverage to more and more Americans, particularly those who can't afford it.
