"stonewalling any progress"

It depends on what your idea of PROGRESS is. If you've paid any attention to what's going on in the states and in other countries of the world, then you MUST realize that to pay off $16 Trillion dollar deficits you probably need to bring in some extra revenues to go along with your spending cuts.

The U.S. is in the enviable position of having the world's ONLY reserve currency, so people are STUCK with the dollar right now. At times they've tried to move to the Yen and the Euro but neither of those lasted for too long.

In 30 years (if the Chinese ever really get their act together) we may be seeing folks here in the U.S. trying to exchange their depreciating US dollars for Chinese Yuan.

What HAS sunk in with me is that as we pump more and more CO2 into the atmosphere we create a Greenhouse effect. Look through the history of the planet and you'll see that as CO2 levels rise the temperature rises. You DO realize that the arctic ice is melting rather rapidly, right? Ice itself presents one of the best cooling agents for the planet because of its reflective properties. As the ice diminishes the heat increases.

Peter, you talk about Global Warming as a "partisan issue". I like to talk about it as a HUMAN issue.
