More on ACSA, from acsa.net

"As a result of Clinton's excessively liberal interpretation of Constitutional Constraints prohibiting certain Public Official conduct: our Government has now taken an active role in Promoting one corporate technological solution, albeit an obsolete one, over another. Now, because of the Cinton/Reno alliance with the AT&T Gang of Five, the Government is completely on the wrong side of the Law in a manner that exceeds Richard Nixon's cause for resignation. Were this a war, the AT&T Gang of Five would be selling bombs and bullets out of the White House, rather than just Network-only Computers and Internet Services, and you and I would be protesting outside of the White House, demanding Clinton's impeachment."

"Unfortunately, he has Press backing, as AT&T and the Gang of Five control key Press spokespersons who are readily available to manipulate the issues."

EXERPTS FROM THE ROUND TABLE WHICH INVOLVED SOME 10,000 TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES and 2.5 MILLION MEMBERS:

ACSA's OFFICE OF PUBLIC ADVOCACY stated: "The Gang of Five's Network Computer is based on the X-Station developed originally in 1971 as a Telex-like or IBM 3270-like terminal. Because it is a "Network-Only Computer" (NOC), it is unbelievably obsolete and limiting. Without the Internet -- it does nothing, without Java it performs no tasks, the Windows PC makes the SUN, RCA and IBM JAVA NC look 'like boat anchors with no boat', and cost no more than an NC".

Methinks these people are nutcases, although I leave it to others not of my ilk to dig something sensible out of this if they can. The NC is base on the "X-station" of 1971? Was that an X-files episode?

Cheers, Dan.
