I've been looking into security for my laptop when I take an extended trip (inside the USA) later this year. Are there some experienced travelers out there who might save me a lot of time by sharing ideas? I need to access my brokerage account (Interactive Brokers) each weekday morning for an hour or two. I believe they have all the security I'll need for that. Ditto my bank. What about routine email and SI posts? How much danger will I put myself in by using the "free" WiFi sights along the road and what can I do for protection in those cases?

I appreciate any ideas...... I'm using Thunderbird for mail and Firefox for the browser.
