I only sincerely hope that next time our side gets it permanently right, but I won't hold my breath.
I do not think that that a global conventional war is looming. Instead, I strongly believe that with the rapid advancements in genomics, genetic engineering, and bioweapons that target very specific DNA sequences, the next "war" will be a very short-lived one "fought" at the DNA level.
In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if a small, rogue group, unaffiliated with any government, takes matters into their own hands and acts secretively and unilaterally to preserve their own heritage, culture, and way of life. It wouldn't surprise me if those men are German geneticists. It stands to reason that is how "war" will evolve; nice and clean.
We could wake up one more to the shocking news of billions dead around the world before anyone knows what's going on, or any government yes-man can analyze jack $hit. Imagine an undetectable, airborne pathogen that rapidly spreads and targets those who carry specific DNA sequences. Israel has reported been seeking that for at least 15 years. The genetic virus could be something simple such as an airborne microbe that interrupts a specific DNA strand to cause the heart to immediately stop beating.
