Fredthefed2 on the IV MB posted a pertinent article regarding a “shift away from internal new product development in larger companies”:

http://beckersorthopedicandspine.com/orthopedic-a-spine-device-a-implant-news/item/12670-9-trends-to-track-in-the-medical-device-industry

Clip: >1. Focus on entrepreneurial manufacturers with FDA-approved products. There's been a shift away from internal new product development in larger companies toward sourcing opportunities for new products from small entrepreneurial companies in the industry, Mr. Kinsella says.

"Large companies are interested in products from smaller entrepreneurial manufacturers that are patented with FDA approval, reimbursement established and clinical experience beyond that of the physician inventor," Mr. Kinsella says.<

I responded with this (slightly edited): Let me exaggerate a bit for sake of argument: The above describes powerful-large-company rip-offs of the proceeds from products developed by innovative-but-weak-small companies – and a rip off of the adventurous investors in those small companies. Over simplified, yes; but it speaks important truth for small companies that have actually developed important new tech/products. And, BSD Medical is a PRIME example!

However, BSD M.’s 10Ks clearly reveal that the company is aware of the above and they do NOT plan for a takeover or a rip-off buy-out. Instead, they steadily reveal that they are seeking strategic alliances – where, presumably, the larger company would mainly add marketing power for BSD M.’s break-through products. And, the two major mfrs of MRI machines (GE and Siemens) -- so they are likely strategic partners for the BSD-2000/3d/MRI products.

Does BSD M. have the strength to negotiate a proper relationship with such as GE or Siemens? I think so: 1) they have the goods!; 2) about one-third of BSDM is controlled by insiders; 3) by way of the last stock offerings they have a pretty good cash situation (if you are in cash distress, you will get ripped in negotiations!).

Microwave heating is a MAJOR advance in cancer therapy, and this is now being realized by many docters (though still a small %). One reference: The efforts by the Atzelberg Circle, see

http://investor.bsdmedical.com/press-release/clinical-trials-and-research/bsd-medical-reports-international-scientists-organize-adv

“. . . distinguished, international team of leading oncologists met in council while attending the May 2012 conference of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) in Barcelona, Spain. The team, known as the “Atzelberg Circle,” includes leading researchers from multiple internationally-renowned cancer research centers. The purpose of the meeting was to develop strategies to advance hyperthermia as standard cancer therapy in combination with radiation and chemotherapy.”

And, BSD M. is the world leader in microwave heating for BOTH the adjuvant therapy mentioned by the Atzelberg Circle and tumor ablation! Serious, savvy investors will recognize that buy-and-hold is the best strategy for BSDM (perhaps play the “day” trading con game with a small % -- ***IF*** you think you can beat the many, massive day-hour-minute-second-submicrosecond computerized trading programs!).
