I worked for 6 years on a good paying job which was reserved for Whites only. I was a switchman/brakeman and a member of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen while in college and law school. There were no blacks in the union those years (1956-61).

Are you using the fact that you benefited from the policies of a racist union to justify racist (pro-minority) government policies? Did it occur to you that the "white affirmative action" was WRONG and it should be ended? Did it occur to you that if it is wrong for you to benefit from affirmative action, then it is wrong for anyone to benefit from affirmative action?

It is intellectually dishonest to say that it was bad for you to benefit from an AA policy, but it is good for someone else to benefit from an AA policy.

Unless, of course, that you are saying that the racist AA policy that benefited you was a good thing. Is that what you are saying?

BTW: thank you for bringing up that unions have long been a tool to implement racist policies. Kinda makes Paul V's claim to sainthood a little more distant, eh?
