BREAKING..Google’s Nexus 7 becomes highest selling Android tablet in Carphone Warehouse history

Carphone Warehouse says it has sold more Nexus 7 tablets than any other Android tablet in its history. It is no surprise that the device has been selling in such numbers due to its very attractive price point. It seems users would much rather buy a smaller cheaper tablet, than a larger and more expensive one like the Transformer Prime and the Galaxy Tab.

Google’s flagship tablet has yet to touch the sales numbers of Apple’s iPad. This is of course due to the fact that Google has launched the tablet only a few months ago. The company is aiming the device at a completely different market. In fact, part of the reason the tablet is selling so well is because it is attracting the crowd that finds the iPad to be way too much in terms of size and price.

With the overwhelming success of the tablet, we can absolutely expect to see other manufacturers pushing out similar devices. Before the Nexus 7, we have already seen similar tactics from Amazon, so I think it’s safe to assume that every major manufacturer will produce a tablet with a similar size and price point. Carphone’s Chief Commercial Officer Graham Stapleton said:

“It’s impressive that this product is our biggest selling Android tablet, and it will be really interesting to see if other manufacturers will follow suit with smaller tablets over the coming months to spice up the Christmas period.”

It is clear that both retailers and consumers are expecting similar tablets. It is just up to the manufacturers to deliver.
