Mark,
You can't demand that what was said is suddenly unsaid.... :0|
Comments by ANY individual towards any other individual who was employed in a capacity that placed him under public journalistic scrutiny are open to public comment. Gayle Essary WAS, by his own admission, formerly employed as a reporter/moderator of the Waaco Kid Forum/Streetlevel and thus, open to public scrutiny in such capacity.
Are you saying that any comments ever uttered towards any journalist(or former journalist... :0) over comments made while operating in his/her official capacity can now be censored and thus, removed from the record??
Come on now....
Life is getting exciting... But I'm very sorry that all you were unfairly targeted by these accusations and slander on the part of this individual. But we all get spammed everyday we download our email, by unsolicited messages. Unfortunately, instead of taking this battle directly to myself through my functional SI email address, he deliberately chose to target innocent and unsuspecting individuals.
How would you have reacted if a former reporter from Newsweek suddenly mass mailed its subscribers list threatening legal action. Or perhaps more appropriately, the list from a now defunct newsletter, a newletter whose editor (someone like myself) continued to call for journalistic accountability from the reporter from Newsweek (simply an example for comparison purposes only)??? (slightly convuluted, but I think you get the point... :0)
This gentleman should never have had your email address to begin with. It was provided to him through his prior capacity as a reporter/moderator of the Waaco Kid Forum since I did not mail it to his personal email address. Thus, the owner of the Waaco Kid would incur legal liability as well for providing this list to a private citizen so that he would be able to further his personal goal of hiding from comments made in his former official capacity as a paid reporter/moderator for this company. I have explicitly told him that my comments are solely mine and not representative and any former subscriber of my, now defunct, unofficial shareholders newsletter. He has this in writing and thus no further claim to threaten anyone especially since no one paid me to do what I did. I wasn't a business, like WK/Streetlevel.
If you don't want email from him, simply tell him to never again email you and to stop harrassing you. But, of course, also let him know that you are playing no part and have no opinion on any personal comments by myself. Because SI knows that you were NOT involved, and this certainly isn't the first, nor will it be the last that they hear from Mr. (oops... can't say his name anymore... <vbg>) Do not stand for permitting such Cyber-Terrorism to be perpetrated against you. (Ok, so this may be overly dramatic, but you, again, get the point... :0)
This is how to handle it rather than demanding wholesale censorship and historical revision.
Just my humble opinion and one hell of a way to spend my day off.
Regards,
Ron |
