TJ, The baby boom generation has has a major impact on the nature of the US economy and politics since its appearance after WWII. It will continue to impact spending patterns, employment patterns, retirement patterns, healthcare, etc for the next 30 years until we die off. It is also one of the most studied demographic phenomena ever, so the present and expected demographic impacts on the US economy should not be a surprise to anyone with even basic analytical skills and knowledge. The BIG issue is how do we deal politically with the very real social/economic impacts. One of those expected impacts is a reduced US consumption of "stuff", and reduced GDP growth because of the drag of high levels of retirement and increased healthcare. Its a statistical certainty, and has nothing to do with the moral superiority of the Middle Kingdom or some moral failure of Team USA. Its baked into the numbers! Kiyosaki's forte is to make a big splash and sell lots of book. He is not serious scholar and writes books on whatever is the hot topic dejour. He may even be one of your cretins! There are many good academic studies available to anyone willing to do a little digging. btw, you do not have to cash in a 401k at 70.5. You must just start taking minimum withdrawals from the account. David
