I think the PMMX is stopping at 233 for marketing reasons, not because their process won't support anything higher. I suspect they want to reserve the higher clock speeds for the Pentium II. If 300 Mhz PMMXs were available, it would steal sales of the slot 1 CPUs in favor of socket 7, which Intel is trying to kill off.
