HOLY SH*T..That new ChromeBook for $249 actually INCUDES $269 worth of services..Buy a new Chromebook for $249, and get $269 in service value from Gogo and Google Drive

Summary: If you are even considering the Chromebook, look at the fine print on the Amazon purchase page to find you get $269 in value-added services for your $249 purchase. Yes, you are getting $20 to buy a Chromebook so if you use these services it is a no-brainer purchase.

I have an iPad 3 and just pre-ordered a Microsoft Surface, but my buddy and MoTR podcast co-host Kevin Tofel has been selling me on the virtues of the Chromebook. As my ZDNet colleague James Kendrick pointed out you can now buy a reduced spec Chromebook for just $249 and even then I figured I would skip it as I have other devices. I then went to the Amazon preorder page and after seeing a few of the added services that come with the Chromebook I ordered one right away.

12 free Gogo in-air internet passesI travel quite a bit for my professional engineering job, primarily on Alaska Airlines, and one of the included services with a new Chromebook is 12 free passes (estimated $150 value) that you can use over 2 years on domestic US flights with Gogo. I have a flight to DC coming up right after the estimated 31 October delivery date of my Chromebook so plan to test this out right away. I enjoy using Gogo services and this included service has real value for me.

100GB of free Google Drive storageI like using cloud storage services and currently use Skydrive, Dropbox, and Google Drive as my primary solutions. With a new Chromebook purchase you get 100GB of free Google Drive storagefor two years ($119.76 value).

I used a Chromebook for a couple of weeks and enjoyed the keyboard and utility of the Chrome OS. Now that Google is partnering to give me $269.76 in services that are valuable and will be used by me, how can I pass on the $249 device? In effect, I am receiving $20 to buy a Chromebook and I imagine there is even more value than that in the efficiency and usefulness in using Chrome on the new Chromebook.
