Speaking to supporters in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden wanted to know how many knew someone who served in Iran, Charlie Spiering wrote at the Washington Examiner.
"How many of you know someone who served in Iraq or Iran?" Biden asked.
According to Spiering, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) raised his hand along with others in the crowd.
Biden wasn't finished, however.
"How many of you know someone who has been injured or lost in Iraq or Iran?" the Vice President asked.
“Well, let me tell you something. We owe … these families more than we can ever pay them,” he added.

"When did we deploy U.S. troops to Iran? Obviously, the vice president meant Afghanistan. At least, that’s what we hope he meant," Becket Adams wrote at The Blaze.
"As Biden continued, it became clear that rather than referring to a secret war, he had mixed up 'Iran' and 'Afghanistan,'” ABC News reported in what appeared to be an attempt to cover his gaffe.
Vice President Biden is well-known for his many gaffes, a point made by Paul Ryan at the recent vice presidential debate.
"I always say what I mean," Biden responded.
Speaking in New Hampshire last month, Biden said the United States still had 650,000 troops in Afghanistan, overstating the number by some 580,000.
