It's another laughable thing, but just damn... these are lives. You start to realize, if you (not you you) didn't already know, that Walsh and guys like him just really don't think you count for much as a human being. It's shocking to realize sometimes, still even for me, how grounded some are in the old belief (that is both religious and non-religious) that women aren't fully human, that they don't have souls in the same way that men do. There's no way, imo, that Walsh doesn't know what he said isn't true, it's just that the women who die in childbirth don't matter. I'm glad they're being blunt about it in their way.
Obama lately has been as strong as I've seen a dem, especially a male dem, in a long time about a woman's right to reproductive rights (including in there birth control, insurance coverage for 'female parts' things, etc). It's quite refreshing. I've not been happy with the male leadership of the dem party for the most part for a long time on those issues. |
