Greeting to all "the family" on my favorite internet thread. Have been "lurking" for several months ..... but am a "lurker" with a considerable position in TPRO.
NMS UPGRADE: Spoke with Scott Liolis last week and tried to pin him down on timing for NMS upgrade. Bottom line .... be patient! Don't expect it too soon. I'd love to be surprised and will be glad to admit I was wrong if timing is near. But NASD seems to have the same "can do" attitude you'd encounter at the DMV or IRS. Alydaar Software (ALYD) applied for upgrade in mid summer and the Dow Jones wire reports they will be upgraded December 4th! ALYD is up 30% on seemingly this news alone (14-18 1/4). In order to receive institutional support upgrade is very important ..... and while the TPRO story is compelling, until upgrade is official, lack of upgrade will hurt.
SENATE LEGISLATION TO QUANTIFY Y2K: Spoke with Senator Robert Bennett's office this morning regarding legislation he submitted November 10th concerning Y2K. This "legislation will require publicly traded corporations to disclose specific info about Y2K readiness of their computer systems and their ability to manage the business risks associated with possible failures after 1/1/2000." For a copy of the proposal call: (202) 224-5444. Senate convenes in late January. Banking Sub-committe will study proposal (Bennett chairs this sub-committe) followed by submission to Senate Banking Committee and Senate. Then bill moves to House of Representatives. Timing? Who knows? The sand is moving through the hourglass and the clock is winning the race. Fastrack Legislation? Let's hope so. I see this as an "inflection point" for all Y2K stocks. If corporate America comes out of the closet they've been hiding in and quantifies their exposure good news should follow for Y2K solution providers. I'll keep you posted routinely.
Let me close by saying to all of the "TPRO regulars" it's a joy to visit this thread. T. Mex, Skippard, Don, Doc, Raju, Cheryl, Karl, Jan ..... to all of you, my thanks for your effort to discover info, develop models, catalog data, etc. "Knowlege is Power" .... and thanks to you, this is a powerful thread.
Regards,
Bill |
