When I read this article I realize how slow and cumbersome our intelligence apparatus is. Despite substantial sums spend developing and deploying the best technology, Alexander the Great had more timely intelligence as he crossed the alps. And then I ponder how anyone expects this intelligence machinery (that it is claimed still doesn't know what went on when we were stationary with direct communication and video and were being attacked) will provide timely, accurate intelligence in the Guatemalan jungle. We have the finest intelligence service in the world (or at least a very expensive one) and we aren't very good in the middle east but we really tear it up in south america? ARS
