When Office Depot expects less business, you think it's a pre-announcement of a weak economy. When Staples is closing stores and reducing the average size of stores, you think it's a bellwether. When drug stores and office supply stores are losing business to Amazon, and on average, Amazon charges less for what people and businesses formerly paid, you don't recognize that that is positive for their customers. You see it in statistics of lower GDP. You don't have to buy a "Chinese" ETF to get exposure to the Chinese economy.
