The vendor plans a Q2 '98 launch of its Prisma Dense Wave Division Multiplexing platform. The DWDM will let operators transmit 128 video channels over one piece of fiber, S-A says. That's eight times the 16-channel capacity of most fiber. One catch: S-A will market the DWDM platform to telcos, giving cable competitors a better chance to compete with fiber.
